need help with dual antenna configuration
My desire is to install a 2 meter and an 11 meter radio. I rarely would be using both at the same time, but you never know.
Installing the radio is no problem. It's the mounting the antennas for 2 different bands. I was thinking the spare tire carrier mount for 11 meters. I liked the thought of the Ultramount for my 2 meter rig till I saw the price. I talk on 2 meters on a regular basis so I don't want to do any kind temporary setup. I open for suggestions....

I made two brackets for the spare tire mount, one for the left side and one for the right side.
I mounted the HF on the Left and the 2M on the right.. doesn't really matter which side is which,, I guess I picked the left for HF since it's close to the tailgate opening because I remove that antenna when not in use, the 2M antenna is always on.
I would also consider mounting the 2M antenna in the front hood area using one of the hood type brackets.

FWIW, I m using the Ultra mount on the license plate for my cb and a
Diamond mount with a Larson 2 meter/70 antenna mounted on the left side of the hood just in front of the cowling.
Seems to work well for me.

Plan was to stay away from mounting on the hood because I already have a 2 meter mobile antenna but it's over 50 inches and it would look kinda weird up front....
My 2m/440 is in the center position of a five light over-windshield bar from Rugged Ridge. Fantastic place for it and the coax fit nicely in the provided grommets. I have my CB on a home-made spare tire mount bracket. I'm actually planning to move the CB to the drivers mirror relocation bracket, just haven't had the time. This will give me FM on the passenger side, HAM top center and 11M drivers side. Currently the HAM on top is fixed, but popping off one of my freedom panels lets me reach up and unscrew it. I am considering the Diamond K9000 motorized antenna lift that would let me flip a switch to lower the HAM antenna, but it's a hundred bucks and I don't go into garages if I can help it, the only time I had to reach up and remove the antenna was wheeling in the woods to get under some low branches.

does that Diamond mount hold position well? I had one several years ago and it always loosens up and the antenna would sit at an angle.

Iv got a pic of it in my gallery.
Another nice thing about the antenna is its only about 30" tall
and very flexible.
