Default radio choice

I'm soooooo frustrated with the sporadic performance and wild SWR readings I get while trying to tune and use my Maxon portable hand held cb radio. It's the kiind that is primaraly used as a moble cb, sold with a rubber antenna. I've had it hooked up to my 3' firestik and Arizona Rocky Road CB antenna mount.
After testing everything over and over again, and after going through 3 of these portable cb's, I'm looking to upgrade to a base unit for the Jeep while hoping this solves my problems.
I'm trying to decide between the Cobra 75WXST and the Midland 75-822. Both are available at www.walcottcb.com
Any one have any suggestions on which to buy?
What I wan't more than anything is a CB shop, but I can't find one less than 4 hours away!!!

this unit is so far outstanding i've even had it in the jeep without the roof through a few rain storms and works perfectly still i would definetly recommend this radio

I have this some model..inexpensive and works great for me and would recommend. Its mounted the same as WOL did on his write-up. With my 3' firestick SWR is about as close as you can get. Good luck !
