retractable mic holder
I'm going to be installing a Midland 1001Z CB Radio according to the write up in the forum. Is anyone using a retractable mic holder? If so, where did you buy it?
I'm a cycling fan and recreational cyclist. The team cars use CB to communicate with their racers. The directors have cool overhead set ups for the CB as well as a retractable cord for the mic. I've searched all over and cannot find one that looks solid enough.
Thanks for the help.
This forum is dangerous. I've already ordered a CB, ultra mount, and firestik antenna splitter; and my Rubi isn't supposed to leave the factory until the first week in Feb/08.

My wife and I are also cyclists and triathletes, in fact I will be doing Ironman Arizona this April.
I know what you are talking about, you see them in the team cars, but never thought about using one, until now....thanks....
I think they are made by Motorola, but cant be sure, I have some TDF footage, I will watch it tonight to see if I can spot a brand.....
Sooo, what kind of bike do you ride? I have a Trek 2200 road bike, Quintana Roo Caliente tri bike and a Specialized Stumpjumper mountain bike....Wifey has a Trek 2100 road bike, Quintana Roo Tequilo tri bike and a Trek 4500 mountain bike....

Good to know someone else knows what I'm talking about. That's the exact set up.
I've got a Seven Axiom and a Madone SL. I raced the Madone for a year in 2005 with a team in Savannah, GA. I've got an old Raleigh M-80 that I converted to a single speed after a crash that killed the rapid fire shifters. Good luck on the Ironman. I aspire to that level someday. I did a half-iron summer of 05, but no races since. Two kiddos have slowed the training schedule a bit.
Truck stops will have the retractors. I have a gear keeper hooked to the CB in the Peterbilt. It has a small clip that I hooked to the Center visor, and it keeps the mic up, and it retracts when done.
