I actually use this mounting. The overhead console is amazing and it gives my Jeep just a little more of a rugged feeling from the inside.

I mounted my CB in the box, ran the cords through the Roll Cage Plastic Covers and down and through the gate in the rear. Looks really good as its totally seemless. Ran my wires through the Passenger A-Frame protectors.

I stuck my inverter behind the panel beneath the glove box... If it's a smaller CB unit you could use that spot also.
Another common location is on either side of the center console, but I don't like how it intrudes in the footwell.
You could also get a unit that you just plug into the 12v outlet and has the CB built into the handheld mic so it's all one portable unit you can stash away when you aren't using it.

hey, I really like how you have that set-up, did you have to drill into the header? What exactly did you mount to?

I use mine quite often. A lot of the logging roads in this region have logtrucks roaring down them and a CB channel posted at the start of the road so you can avoid becoming a bug on their windshield. I also use them on every trail run to coordinate locations, spot, and yack. And on the freeways, very handy for being alerted to wrecks, hidden police cars, or whatever is coming up (and for alerting others).

Mine here:

Got the bracket from Quadratec, Uniden 520XL from Amazon:

I put a little external speaker in the foam around the roll cage, pretty much next to my ear:

Great place as it usually doesn't get knocked off like it would on the edge of the Jeep.
Nice thing is I can take it off during the week and not have to worry about garage parking.
