Default is there a chance?

i have a magnet mount antenna that is meant for 155mhz that uses an 18" or so whip. it removes from the base and has an end that looks very much like a cb size and thread. any chance they maybe the same? i would love to just pick up a cb mount and get that sucker installed.

Do you mean just mounting the 18" whip by itself to run CB? 18" is really small for HF freqs which CB is. The reason it's so small is because of resonating on VHF ie,155 meg. CB is 11 meg. So, as you can tell there's a pretty big spread between there. You actually "may" be able to hear somebody using it, (if they were right on top of you) but as far as tuning it for 11m to transmit, without modifying it, I'm pretty sure it won't work at all.

sorry guess i wasn't specific enough. i still plan to use it for 155mhz for my ems/police radio. i was just hoping that i could use a cb mount to attach it. but i didn't want to have to rip open a box just to find out that the antenna didn't screw into the mount.

I do believe the standard is 3/8 thread. And it will also depend on weather or not the mount base has a coil in it. If it's just a plain mount with no base (meaning a base that holds a coil) then it should be no problem. Check and see if it's 3/8 thread, and it should say on the CB mount box if it's 3/8 as well.
