Default tuffy center console

I installed a tuffy center console, replacing the oem in my 09 sahara u. Well built, instructions suck. I mounted a cobra 25 classic on the radio sleeve, and it barely fit.
Flushmounting the radio face with the top of the sleeve (leaving barely any room for mic plug cord bend) resulted in the back of the radio riding on the ebrake wheels. Pull plate, remount the 25, now the cord gets mushed when closed but it all fits.
All in all, a good center console but it's a real pain to get in. I think the radio sleeve is ideal for smaller radios, the cobra25 is really the tallest you can mount in there.
Antenna is a ball mount in the rear left panel between the tail light and gate opening.

I found the same to be true about the Tuffy overhead console...very tight and not really designed for a full size radio. The funny thing is almost all full size radios (regardless of manufacturer) are about the same size! Biggest problem is the depth or length of the radio since you still have to screw on the coax...even with a 90 degree connector it's tight!!

I am still experimenting with different CB radios...hope to find a "perfect" fit one day.

I removed mine over a year ago, I couldnt give the thing away. Unfortunately it finally wound up in the dump to get it out of my way.

Keep an eye on the freebies/for sale section they do come up occasionally. If i spot one i will try to remeber to let you know.

Hey happy,

If you give them a call or email i'm sure they would listen. I was just at their facility and they were some of the most welcoming and friendly vendors i've met.

I guess i was unclear, sorry. I LOVE my Tuffy console. The factory console is what i couldnt give away.

I have a bunch of Tuffy products and I in no way meant to bad-mouth them, just came out wrong.

Thanks for the lookout Happy, I do check our sales/freebies often with no luck. However I read a post about getting a shell from the dealer (arm rest/centered cup holder style) for $60.....totally untrue! in dealer cost alone, when we broke $300 and still hadnt got to the lid or drop in box or rubber cup holder insert, I quickly bailed on that idea. The price, Im almost certain, would have equaled near that of the Tuffy. I would buy Tuffy in a heartbeat.....But nursing school got my money down......thats ok though, 2 semesters left and I can prolly afford all that cool stuff.
