However, I an also in the market for a CB but was wondering what the difference between the big units and just the microphone only units is.
Vehicle clinometer on iphone 4 as far as radios go you can go big and very functional with a Galaxy that has side bands or middle of the road with a good all around radio like a Cobra or uniden or more of a trail radio thats only used occasionally and in close quarters. Its all about your preference and expectations IMHO

The big difference is with just the mic units when, not if, you drop the mic you are dropping the whole radio. And if you do some research back thro the forum, you will see that the mic only CBs are really just a waste of $$. People buy them but after a few times of use they decide they really need to upgrade to a real radio. IMO that is. Those of you that really like the mic only radios should speak up.

Sounds like the little ones are weak in comparison and the strength is mostly in the unit, not the antenna?
You would be amazed what a properly setup antenna system will do for a marginal radio. You can have the most expensive radio with all the bells and whistles but put a shitty antenna on the end of it and it won't talk 2 blocks.
