what cb would you recommend
a buddy of mine gave me a 4 ft firestick for free.cant beat that.just got it mounted to my spare tire carrier with a universal mount and ran the cable into the cab.with that said im in the market for a good cb but doesnt break the bank.it will be used recreationally but i want decent coverage.i was hoping to find a headsup kind of display that i could mount in between my sun visors above my rear view mirror to control the channels but have the main unit located somewhere else.but either way i would like to get yalls opinion on a good cb.also what else will i need to do other than plug it up to power and the antenna.ive read a little about having to tune them but im not sure if its needed as well as having to ground the antenna.if i just drilled a hole into my tire carrier where do i put the ground strap.thanks for all the help and if you know a place where the cb is on sale please let me know.

I like the Uniden 510/520. It mounts right above the mirror perfectly.

I mounted it passenger side beside my auto stick shift console.... If you want a pic PM me and I'll add one to this thread you started.

uniden pro510xl, nice compact size and has worked great for me. i have mine mounted above the mirror in my 2012 JKU.
a couple of cautions. my 18 ft preassembled coax cable needed to be run along the roll bar to make it from my tailgate mount to the mirror location, going under the carpet and up the A pillar would have made it too short on my 4 dr. the other one is on a 2012 jk the freedom top handle swipes over the full center footman loop so you can't run the cable and power wire in through the plastic trim opening at the footman loop. earlier freedom tops don't create this issue.
i drilled a hole in the plastic trim for my cable and wiring. i used the bracket that came from the misch overhead tray that i didn't install to support mine which left the end of the footman loop open for the freedom top latch. i ran the cable and wiring under the windshild trim per the project-jk writeups.
