Default Why the fire sticks

every time I see a cb antenna it seems to be a fire stick, is there an advantage
to this brand and if I use the spare tire mounting point is there a big advantage to the 4 foot model. I would like to park in my garage so length is an important issue

The question about the 4 foot model is something I've wondered as well. I've been eyeing the 3 foot model.

keeping up with the jones...

Firestik is a good product. A lot of off-roaders like it.
Wilson has a 4' flex that IMO is better though. Due to the nature of CB freqs, I believe it is highly suggested to run the ant. about 1' above the roof line. But I am no pro here.

the tunable tip makes them easy to get a good SWR reading, they hold up to a good beating... when its tuned, you can take it off for limited parking height, and when you stick it back on, its still in good tune.

When I had my CB I used a K40 antenna instead of the firestick. The K40 powerflex antennna was the antenna I used. It tuned nicely and was lighter than the firestick, more flexible and smaller in diamater also. I went for this one because it didn't put much strain on the mounting hardware.

I like Francis. I ran them on a 18 wheeler for about 15 years. They worked very well, for me.

I have one on my Jeep now.

I never fooled with a firestick but as a general rule look for something you can tune. The fiberglass wilson works good and the wilson 1000's are good too. I prefer something with a bottom coil and a steel whip. The BEST cb antenna in my opinion is the ol' stainless steel 102 inch whip, it will outperform anything. Hope this helps 73
I totally agree....Way back when the Wilson 1000s came out, we did some comparisons with the 102" ss whip. The whip was just a little better than the 1000s, but better nonetheless. If I had to do it over again, I'd still go with either. BTW.....A couple years ago I trimmed a Wilson "Trucker" mag mount to run on 10m on my F-250. Was pretty surprised when I was talking to the east coast from Alaska with 25 watts. Wilsons are good antennas...

I bought a Firestick for offroad use because it was cheap and works well for trail duty.....Most places frown on 102" whips for saefty reasons, although nobody has ever complained about mine....

Wilsons are great antennas as well, I've used a few over the years on my big rigs with good results...

So far the 102" on my JK gets the edge out of everything that I have tried, until I get around to trying a Tarheel...

My reason is less.... inspired? thoughtful?

It came in the package deal with the CB. It tuned well and works fine. I don't know squat about radios and didnt want to mess with it, i just wanted it installed and done with minimal effort.
