07 esp shutoff without a switch
ok, i have been told that 07 jks can shut down their esp using the special steering wheel trick.
the deal is you have to get your computer flashed to the new software.
then follow the instructions that come with the tsb... the only difference from the instructions on the rule is that the key should be on but the engine should be off.
i have been talking to a guy on here that has it done to his 07 jk.... i havent been able to get mine to work but maybe others will be able to.
if you do get this to work could you post on this thread and let me know??
i desperately want to turn this stuff off but would prefer to keep abs...
thanks

Mate I have done it. The results are
Althouhg the system completely shuts down the ESP and traction control system but it does NOT shut down the ABS and BAS Brake asssist system. ABS is good but BAS is still pain in the butt.
So I have added the simple switch to cut off everything when I need it.

awesome fellas.. glad i could help.... if i helped.. i still need to get mine to work.. i need to recenter the wheel and then do it... i think that is what is hanging it up for me right now.
I've had a heck of a time getting mine to take. I get the telltale beep on the first 1/2 turn, but I can't get it on the second 1/2 turn. My instructions show engine on and running, but are you guys doing this with the key turned only to 'ON' w/o the motor running???
I got my Jk flashed today. the tech told me he tested it and it goes off and back on but said HE couldn't leave it off. but when i tried myself i couldnt't get it to turn off. I got the odometer to read espoff after the first half turn to the right but then when i turned it to the left i could't get it to chime again and hence didn't work. not sure what im doing wrong. dealer did give me directions on exactly how to do it and i was reading right off their directions.
yep. the techs are full of crap when they say they got it to work.. they are going off the fact that it says esp off on the first half turn to the right.
i still havent gotten mine to work. i am just living with it for now.. i straightened my steering wheel with my procal and that helped alot but it still kicks on..
i will be doing a toggle somtime after tax season when i have free time.

Went back to dealer. he reflashed it, and the ESP is now completely disabled. the yellow squiggles stay on and the odometer reads espoff each time i start it. My jeep is a very early '07 probably the first in MA.
