Default 12V power source wire for light switch?

I am wiring in KC HID driving lights. The wiring diagram shows a white wire coming off the dash mount switch with 3amp fuse to go to a 12V power source. What is the purpose of the 12v accessory wire? Is it necessary? (I assume it must be, or it wouldn't be there). Where is a good place to attach this wire to? I am new to wiring something like this, but I do have basic wiring knowledge and can follow instructions well. Thanks for any help.

I finally found the answer to my question. Yes, you do need to hook this wire. Full power is not routed to the switch, so an alternate source needs to be wired in.
