Default 1st Offroad Lights: Driving Beam or Long Range?

I have a 2010 Rubicon (i.e. has foglamps). I'm in the market for a nice set of off-road lights to supplement the factory candles (literally, it seems!) when heading home from my tree stand. Anyway, reading posts, other sites, reviews, etc., I haven't seen a post recommending one over the other or why...

I've always had luck with the KC brand, so am staying with what I know unless someone sells me on something in the same $ range. HIDs definitely aren't in my budget - please don't waste your time typing that response, unless you're buying (). Do you recommend the driving beam or long-range beam? Why?

I'll add that the intended mounting location is on the bumper.

Thanks for your input.

Jeff

I have the IPF 968 windshield mounted. They are a hybrid style light pattern with a decent spot but they also have a good spread. High quality product, and I think they look really good. The installation is a breeze.

Are you using the 55W or 100W bulbs? The description sounds like the kit comes with both bulbs.

You realy should do a little research on beam patterns and how they are best used. I'm not trying to knock you man. But better understanding goes a long way.

I have the 130 KC dayliters driving lights and they are really bright. I have them on my bumper, and their wiring harness is the best easiest one I have seen. Also the 23 year warrenty is very nice. Good Luck, there are alot to choose from. I choose the driving lites because I got them mainly for watching for deer jumping in front of me. I don't even use mmy high beams any more because the dayliters are brighter than they are. Just my 2 cents.Click image for larger version

Given PA's regulations for aftermarket lighting, I'd go with driving lights on the bumper wired (via a switch and relay) to work when your high beams are on.

In the future you could add spotlights as windshield lights to supplement your bumper mounted driving lights while off-road - these would need to have the covers fitted on while on-road.

Everyone's going to have different opinions on the 'brand' of light you buy. You normally get what you pay for, and a 'name' brand will likely be of better quality than some the el-cheapo's you see on eBay. Ignoring my own advice, I opted for 'el-cheapo' Pro-comps on an MBRP bar ;
