2008 Jeep Jk Electrical Issues
Hello All,
I recently acquired a project 2008 Jeep JKU. 3.8L, Manual Trans. I know that it is going to need some work, but I got an irresistible deal.
It has been sitting for about 10 years, and the previous owner said that it was parked because the front axle had issues with differential. Battery has been completely dead for many years. Previous owner gave me one key, which appears to be meant for the Jeep.
I installed a new battery, but very few functions of the Jeep came alive. Using the key fob, the headlights come on, the hazards flash, but no locking or unlocking of doors occur. Horn does not work, wipers do not work, hvac blower does not work, power windows do not work. Radio does work, but turns off when the key is moved from run to start. When you turn the key to start, no crank of engine or relays seem to activate.
I am wondering if the TIPM has gone bad, or possibly the Sentry system is preventing engine crank.
The battery is full charged, also getting 12+V to the Starter and TIPM. All fuses in TIPM are good. Engine to battery ground is good.
Dash does light up with the appropriate lights, when the key is turned to run. Odometer also displays properly.
I jumpered 12V from battery to starter solenoid, which results in engine crank. Engine was also able to pop and attempt to start on starter fluid. I believe this means engine is not seized, and has spark. The engine appears to not be getting fuel or signal to crank, which could be related to Sentry system? I also believe that all of the issues could be caused by a bad TIPM.
I did unplug all connectors from TIPM, in an attempt to reset. When plugging it back in, wipers and washer fluid began to spray without any command from the operator controls.
I will say that I have pretty good electrical knowledge, and have years of working on older vehicles. I also previously owned a 2008 Jeep JK with auto trans for 9 years. I don't have the greatest knowledge on how Chrysler/Jeep works their electrical system in these things.
Thanks in advance, if you have any suggestions.

I'd start with reading any fault codes. There may be a clue there. You'll need an OBD2 reader and an associated app.
Most local libraries have free access to online Chilton's repair manuals for free. Some require a library card, but those are usually free too. I find the online manuals to be very slow sometimes. But they are quite useful in sorting out problems like yours. I'm guessing the fault codes will be a bit overwhelming. But look for the "common denominator" and start from there.
If it is the TIPM, there are several places that can rebuild or exchange.
