Default 3rd Brake Light

I almost bought the Delta lug nut brake light set from quadratec, but I thought it be cooler and more inexpensive to just make one of my own. Anyone have experience with making their own? I'm not much of an electrician but I figured I could just splice in. Thoughts/ opinions?

A lot of people take the stock 3rd brake light and just cut most of the bottom off to where it can sit on the tire mount an shine through the spare wheel

Looks good. Is it plastic? I briefly looked to try to do that and it seemed like it was.

Yeh, some use the factory light, others use a red led strip but the concept is the same. Just cut the stock light tower, attach some L brackets or whatever and mount the light to it, the height would vary depending g on the opening of your wheel. Another example...

Yeh, I can imagine it'd be easy enough with a regular hacksaw or dremel tho...
