Default Ack, help! Touch-screen issue

Short version: Is there any way to reset the touch screen to factory defaults without a trip to the dealer?

Long version: The touch screen on my my gig system has always been WAY off to the point where I had to touch about half an inch or more to the right of whatever I wanted to select. But then someone told me about the Touch Screen Calibration in Engineering mode (Hold Menu and both Seeks) and from there I was able to fix the problem.

This evening I entered engineering mode to view the addiional options and I accidently selected the Touch Screen Calibration button. While trying to back out of it I mistakenly calibrated off the charts to the point where the touch screen is entirely useless. I can't even reenter the touch screen calibration screen because nothing on screen is selectable.

Here's the terrible part (for me). I'm about to make a 15 hour round trip to attend a funeral :( The thought of making that drive without my sat radio is driving me mad! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I don't have the Mygig, but did you try cutting the power that might set it back to default. Cutting the power by disconnecting the battery ground cable for about 15 to 20 seconds.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm afraid it didn't work :(

There is a way to calibrate the screen...The service guy did it in mine with no special hardware. It took all of about 3 minutes. there is a way to do it yourself, but have read of issues when doing so...

***DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK**
Press and hold the Menu button on the right, and then both of the seek buttons on the left at the same time. That will get you into engineering mode.

This is what I have read while searching on other forums, and the net. But people have run into issues when doing so themselves...Things like the language changed on them...The touch screen stopped working completely...etc...be careful, but my suggestion would be to go to the service and have them do it...it literally took like 3 mins.

Z-Man - I'm afraid engineering mode is what got me into this situation. The calibration in engineering mode works just fine, but you really have to be careful to touch the screen as prompted in proper sequence. I goofed.

naples - How did you manage to change sat channels via the buttons? Mine is presently on AM (AM!!!) and I can't seem to swtich to SAT or FM.

Ug, this is going to be the worst drive ever

Schwah - The tech that did mine, used a pen tip to click in the pluses. With the tip rertracted and gently i will add as to not damage the screen. Did you use something small like that? or did you use your finger? maybe that makes a difference?

Good luck anyway, worst casse scenario, hit up the dealership prior to the drive and see if someone can run out and have them try to do the calibration and see what happens.

Good luck bud, keep us posted.
