Add-an-amp interface?
I have a 2008 JK 4 door with the Infinity Sound system (non-My Gig) and I am relatively pleased with the system with the exception of the sub. I have been searching the forum for a couple of days but I am still confused. I would like to add an appropriately sized good quality replacement sub that would fit in the existing enclosure and amp it, while leaving the existing amp to service the remainder of the existing speakers.
I found this add-an-amp interface for our Jeep on the web

Has anyone seen this before? Looks like it may be a complete replacement to bypass the factory amp altogether, and would only provide output to main speakers and no sub.

I've done something similar and it works great. I took the factory sub/box out and installed a JL 10 in sub. When I cut the wires for the factory sub, I got an adapter that changed speaker wire into female RCA jacks. This way the signal going to the adapter is amplified, and then I ran the RCA's to the new amp. When the signal comes out of the aftermarket amp, its kinda like the its amplified twice. It sounds real good and I am very pleased. Not too loud and I can keep the bass on the head unit at -2 so not to damage my other speakers.

So Josh correct me if I'm wrong, but you cut the wires for the sub after it left the factory amp and installed something like a Scosche line level converter that I found here? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SLC4...evel+converter
That was one of my first ideas but I was concerned about the converter handling the powered signal from the factory amp.
Sorry if this has been asked before and my answer could be found somewhere in the forum, but has anyone else had success using a set up like this?

I used a ONE dollar line level converter from here. For my new amp and JL 10" subwoofer.
