Default Adding UConnect to RBZ

I am new to this forum and I'm hoping you will be able to help a newbie.

I am trying to add the UConnect module to my RBZ stereo. My unit does NOT have nav. I ordered the MOPAR parts 82212159 and 82212160 for this project. I had installed them and the stereo still worked, but the UConnect and IPod controls did not. Based on reading several forums, I had expected to get some result. Several threads indicate it works immediately.

In the box for the 82212159 kit, the P/N on the module itself is 68104904AC. Doing more research, I found other parts sites that state this P/N is used with systems with the nav option. Other sites imply this module contains the most recent software.

Now, for my questions:
Will a trip to the dealer be necessary to activate the module?
If not, what is the way to active it?
Are there different modules for non-nav vs. nav systems?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks. I don't have the lock pick, so a trip to the dealership is needed.

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the module for non-nav vs. nav systems?

For the non Nav (130) and 430N Nav, the same module is used. On the 730N nav, there is no module because it is built into the radio. You have the right parts, you just need the dealer to activate it on your Jeep.

The vehicle does not know that you have Uconnect in it. You need to have the vehicle flashed to add code "RSP" to it. This will tell the vehicle's CAN BUS network that you now have added Uconnect and the network will turn on the module.

I'm trying to make sense of this. Please let me know where I'm incorrect.

Even though the UConnect module is attached via a harness to the RBZ unit, it seems to be controlled and/or powered by the main computer. Because of this, the reprogramming with the StarScan tool is needed. This should then give me the hands-free / Blue Tooth capability plus the iPod controls via the touch-screen.

Thanks.

correct, the vehicle has to know that you now have Uconnect, have the vehicle flashed and the computer CAN BUS network will then know to power up the module.

I just had the system reprogrammed at the dealership. It seems to be working great. The iPhone paired with unit easily and the iPod feature is streaming via Blue Tooth. I'll play with the other features later.

Thanks for all of your help and advice.
