After market head unit randomly losing speakers
Hi All,
After doing a lot of searching I couldn’t find a post about this so I have created an account to see if anyone else has had this issue.
Specs:
2016 JKU upgraded alpine system
HU alpine ILX-507 + Maestro (no other audio changes)
Alpine HCE - C2100RD (rear camera installed with HU)
Mainly use Apple CarPlay and have listened both wirelessly and usb connection
Issue: Randomly while driving I will lose all but one speaker or the sound will completely go out. I can usually get it back if I turn the volume up to 25 (usually listen at 16 /17). I reset the Maestro and head unit a few times and have done updates for the HU. I am wondering if this is a power issue with the stock amp, I have also noticed that sometime my rear camera wont work and will just be a black screen - when this happens the audio issues seem to increase in frequency. I have noticed the speaker loss tends to happen more frequently at lower volume or when weather is bad (cold and rainy). The speaker that remains is either the R or L tweeter in the dash.
I am wondering if this may just be a headunit issue since it doesn’t seem that common in the threads and a lot of people change out their HUs, my other thought is maybe something is going with the amp but then I would think that I would lose all audio.

Welcome to the forum. ? Did you install the HU or did a shop? I have heard about OEM radios having a similar issue when speakers are changed out and the Ohms/Resistance changed especially in COLD weather conditions.
