Aftermarket Amp hookup
I have a 2012 Sahara with the infinity "premium" stereo. My question is if I wanted to add a different amp and subwoofer can I use the wires going Into the stock sub as high level inputs for the amp to get signal. Naturally I know I will have to run new power and ground for new amp. Just wondering about using those as sig al wires

yea you need an amp with speaker level inputs. basically instead of rcas. theres a wiring diagram gloating around here somewhere thatll tekk you what wires to splice into. I didthat with my rf pbr 300.1

You can do that but since those wires are juiced already by the amplifier, you'll most likely need a high power line converter to handle that. Most amps cannot. I would try to get it before the amp and preferably from the front speakers because I also bet that the factory sub probably has a subsonic filter that cuts off anything below say 45-50hz which means your more capable aftermarket gear won't be able to play any lower than the stock sub.

If your just hooking up a sub go get a high level output converter. Steal the signal from the sub wires at the rear of the right hand side under the carpet. There will be 4 wires going to the sub that you can tag onto. You can play both factory and aftermarket subs off of this. If you splice into the wires from the speakers (with an infinity system) you will only get audio through the aftermarket sub.

That's what I did, and use the factory sub, plus my own. I didn't work with my first loc, I called the manufacturer and they said I needed one that was for a high power signal. Second one worked great.
