Default Airhorns

A friend of mine owns a fabrication shop and I got him to spare some of his time to give me a hand with the Jeep.

He fabricated some brackets to mount the horns behind the radiator fan in the space in front of the engine. You can also see the air valve about 3/4s of the way toward the top of the pic on the right side.

They look like they belong there.

I used to have an AllGig with a switch but have since upgraded to the USB AllGig that does not need a switch. He used this switch for the horns... When it's off I press my horn and the stock horn beeps. When I switch it on and the key is on the air horns blow.

Heres the thread with the airtank pics...

How much clearance do you have between the shaft of the horns and your accessory belt system?

There's a few inches. The tubes are thin and at the end of the horn where it flares there's nothing there.

I'd like to see some more close ups of the horns, the compressor, and maybe a soundclip would be entertainment. Where did you put the compressor?

Click on the link in the first post and you'll see pics of the airtank. It's located where the muffler was. I relocated the muffler. While looking at those pics you'll see the compressor on the frame on the passanger side next to the airtank.

For those who would rather not click on that link here's a preview pic...

I will try to get closer pics of the horns... it's hard to get a good angle so you could see them well.

I'll also see what I can do about a sound clip.

I installed an airhorn on mine a couple days ago. I picked up the airhorn at a yard sale for 10$ and the tubes were a bit rusty but I cleaned them up with some steel wool and some chrome polish and now they look decent. I mounted a push button switch for it on the panel that pops out with only a screwdriver that is just in front of the gear shift. I had wire and an inline fuse already so it only cost me the 10$ for the horn and 3$ for the switch for a whopping 13$ total! It sounds good and is not knock your socks off loud but alot louder and cooler sounding than the factory horn. Oh I mounted the horn and compressor over my brake unit (driverside just in front of the windshield). I'll try to get some pics up soon.
