Alpine an Hertz upgrade
Just wanted to thank the forums for making the upgrade so much easier than it might otherwise have been! Couple of in progress and after shots.... the details on the how to's are all over this and other forums so I won't bore with repeat info.
Some comments. The Hertz speakers do not need the metra mounting plates - it's just more trouble than worth. Screwed them directly into the speaker boxes and sound bar. Save the few dollars it cost if anyone plans the same.
As the Hertz model (DCX) does not have adjustable crossover, just installed inside the speaker box itself. Tweeters fit factory locations with quite a bit of trimming!
Alpine itself pairs with S3 seemlessly and call quality apparently very good from the other end. The mic is in front of the gauge cluster as I figured that would be the quietest place.
Speakers are a bit "hard" at the moment. Will see how they loosen up in time, but overall very pleased with the quatum leap over stock in both quality and volume. And it seems to pick up the radio dtations better on fm.
Anyway, thanks forum for much insight and assistance in getting this done.
