Thanks for the negative comment. Yes you can say what you want I respect that, freedom of speech I get it. But it really ticks me (as well as others) that people like you have nothing to say but negative comments about others. If you don't like what a thread is about then simple, don't post on it. I guess you could say I am a white minority, I'm 16 with a jeep. (2 jeeps at this time and the so far 3 in my 16 years on this earth) I'm just like everyone else on here trying to get help from fellow jeepers that are willing to help others out. Call me stupid or whatever you want but as far as I'm conserned I should be respected just as much as any other jeeper on here young or old. As jeepers we are in a community of our own. Having bought my first jeep at age 14 with my hard earned dollar and building it from the ground complete with a custom built amc 360 I built from the block out at age 14 as well as a built pair of Dana 60 and custom suspension from the ground up it pisses me off for people to see that im 16 with a blacked out jeep with a stereo and loud exhaust just to assume I'm just another stupid wanna-be kid. So with that being said please don't judge books by thier cover, thanks for the comment, and happy jeepin.
End state I changed that last plan as well, I have yet to find a set up I like. I'm always fighting for space. recently I cut my speaker box in half and am currently running 1 12 inch sub, but all scenarios still overheat. Of course I live in georgia so IDK.
Let me know if you figure something out. Oh and I'm 34 and still have big stereo's. Metal just sounds so much better when EVERYONE can hear it!
I built a sub box which has a flat back panel. The sub box resides in the rear cargo area. My amps are mounted on the back, bottom portion of the sub box. Since the rear seat back is angled, that leaves plenty of room for the amps to breath. When I need to work on the amps, I just fold my rear seat down, and there they are.
It sounds like you're kind of set on three 12 inch subs but I think you might be going a little over board on the bass.
My single 10 inch sub pounds pretty hard. Just a suggestion but you might want to think about a single 12 or bouble 12's with a smaller amp. I like the idea of mounting the amp in the rear storage compartment.
Yes it is overboard I know lol that's what I'm going for. And I'm set in the three subs bc I bought them and can't return them so I'm stuck with them. And the amp is the kicker zx2500 watt class D amp. Does that help?
If you think that is a negative comment, you might want to stop visiting forums, the guy simply stated a fact, most jeep people do not put in that much of a system into their jeeps. He did not say anything negative, actually stated he has been out of big systems for a long time and stated the fact that most jeepers do not put in huge systems and he asked a question. I do not see anything negative about that. Now if he would have said something like, why you putting that in your jeep, a jeep is not made to be blinged or have systems, then I would think he was being negative.
Now as to your question, I am currently working on putting a system in my jeep, I am just going with two small 800 watt amps, one under the passenger seat and one under the drivers seat. One amp will be power the two speakers in the dash and the two speakers in the roll bar. The second amp will power two 10 inch subs in the back.
I am not worried about over heating because in the past I had a TJ and put two 800 watt amps under the rear seat and never had a problem with over heating and summers in VA can get hot and humid.
However if you are worried about heat, I suggest going to radio shack and buying a little fan that runs off DC power and installing under your seats if that is where you choose to install the amps.
