Amp remote on wire
Hey all,
Just installed an amp and sub in my jeep jk but can't find a place to put the remote wire that turns the amp on and off when you start the car and turn it off. Tried using the 12v socket that goes on and off with the jeep, but it must not be strong enough because it doesn't work. Any suggestions, or has anyone else allready done this and found a good power wire to tap? I know the amp and sub are good, because I have the remote wire hooked up to another source right now but I know it's going to drain the battery and I don't feel like taking the remote wire on and off each time I start it.
Thanks,
Josh

I have mine tapped off of the Keyed Power wire (behind the dash panel that it is mounted in). It works great, because it isnt really supposed to turn it on - its only a voltage to kick a relay into the on position... Id give it another shot... be sure you are on the right wire and havent blown any fuses
I ran mine all the way to the fuse box and tied it to the radio fuse. There is a little rubber grommet on the drivers side that you can run it through. Do a search and that will help you find it.
Good Luck

What wire color did you tap into, wouldn't it be easier to just tap into the correct wire color behind the dash rather than run the remote wire all the way to the fuse box?
seeing as you have to run a power wire up to the battery I am going to have to agree with JKJosh thet running the remote wire to the fuse panal is actually faster and easier. I have mine going to the fuse that controls the switched power output and it works great. when I turn on my jeep with the remote start the sub doesnt come on until the key is inserted and turned to the on position, so when I am in bed and the jeep is warming up I dont have to listen to the bass drone.
Just run your wire through the rubber gromet thing on the drivers side, pull it over to the fuse box and your done.
