Hi. I'm about to install my RER mygig. The instructions put the GPS antenna on the underside of the dash cap, above the head unit. From a previous thread I learned that the Sirius antenna normally goes on the sound bar.

my question: Will it work if i put the Sirius antenna in the same place? right beside the GPS antenna on the underside of the dash? Or could they both go on the sound bar?

Either location is OK. As long as it isn't under any metal. The hard top is fiberglass and doesn't impact either antenna. Under the dash cap is OK too. That will probably render the compass useless. The compass sensor is bolted up to the dash cap.

 

so, I ended up putting both on the sound bar, the GPS over the passenger and the Sirius over the driver side. Install went great! Thanks for all the help for all the annoying questions I have been asking...

 

Hey, Laxguy: Not trying to be anal here, but this is a little bit of a pet peeve of mine (having worked in radio design and engineering for decades before retiring): It's antennas. Insects and bugs (including a few of the Volkswagen kind) and such have antennae. Heck, maybe someone's JK does, too: I know of at least one with shark's fins! LOL.

 

Any interferance with the compass? I was under the impression that was the reason the Sirius antenna goes on the roll bar.
