Default Audio Upgrades

Looking to improve the quality of sound. I know that I'm going to need to add amp(s) as well as 6.5 speakers. I am just curious to see some different set ups.

I got tired of my music sounding like it was coming out of a coffee can so simply replaced the "Made in Mexico" plastic pieces of junk with four T3 audio 6 1/2 2 ways and some no-name tweets that'll peel yours ears off your head.

HUGE difference even with the factory head unit.

x2 to that.

I left my factory stereo, single disc mp3 player, and the factory tweeters but replaced the 4 main speakers with 6.5" Pioneer speakers. I have no amp either.

The sound is great! Before the upgrade, I could only turn up the stereo so loud before it really sounded like crap and was distorted. Now I can max out the volume and it still sounds great.

That upgrade was probably the cheapest way to get better sound.

dj, what model of pioneer speakers did you put in and did you have to make any modifications to install them?

Just out of curiosity you guys that did replace the speakers, did u have the infinity setup? I have read so many threads about how bad the sound is but it never says what setup they started with and that makes a difference. I like mine but i wish i could get more volume out of my infinity setup.

I too replaced my non Infinity speakers with some new Polk 6.5 speakers. It sounds much much better. I am currently looking for an amp the size of the stock one to mount under the dash. I want it louder!!

I have the base radio/cd/mp3. I'm sure the Infinity head unit sounds better and probably has better level controls. I have to turn the treble ALL the way down, mid ALL the way up and the bass at mid-range and even then the max volume on the cd is not loud enough with the top down on the highway. (too much to ask for?) Other than that, max volume on the radio and MP3 are much louder and all in all the sound is MUCH louder. The highs are crisp and the mids are clearer. Hell, I couldn't even hear mid lvls with the factory stuff. Those things are garbage. 1/4" thick magnets, paper cones and thin plastic frames. I don't know if the Infinity systems come with better than these but if you have these speakers, anything respectable you replace them with is going to sound much, much better.

I replaced my infinity speakers with boston acoustic pros front and and boston sl 65's in the rear. I replaced my 6 disc cd changer for the kenwood ddx812 with blue tooth. I have two t.m.a. amps and a 10" kenwood shallow mount sub woofer under the rear seat. almost forgot I also had a back up camera installed.

I bought (4) Pioneer TS-G1642R speakers from crutchfield. They came with the wiring harnesses and the speaker installation kit.

Only mod I had to do was when I installed the sound bar speakers. Had to first install the black plastic speaker circle thing so the speaker had something to grab onto when they were installed because the speaker holes in the sound bar were too big. Just trim the plastic speaker circle thing to fit and install speaker onto them. Had to use a drill but didn't take too long to install.

Oh, I also stuffed polyfil? into the sound bar and behind the front speakers. I was reading on here how it makes the speakers sound much better. I have no complaints with my installation.
