Default Audio Video delay / out of sync when using bluetooth (uconnect)

When streaming video on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 through bluetooth, I get a significant (1 to 2 second) audio lag that causes the audio / video to be out of sync. Does anyone else have this issue as well?

It seems to be ok when using my phone Droid MAXX and previously Droid RAZR MAXX.
  • I have the factory head double din unit without Nav and no hard drive storage.
  • I am running CM 10.1.3 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 on my tablet.

This is because there is a time delay caused by sending the audio across BT to the vehicle where it has to be received by the Uconnect system, converted into an analog signal, then sent thru the radio, to the speakers and then rec'd by your ears.
The video is being watched in real time by your eyes.
This is kind of like when you go to a concert and while your in the parking lot tailgating and have your radios on listening to the local radio station that's broadcasting the event, you hear the sound then milli seconds later you hear the loud speakers from inside the concert area. OR even:
when you're at home and listening to a game on the TV in the living room and walk toward the kitchen where the game is on another tv. There's a spot during that walk where you also have a delay due to the placement of the tvs and the distance from each to your ears.

Totally understand that concept of doing processing delay and time to ears. Thanks.

But it doesn't happen when I use my phone the exact same way.

I assume if it's not just me or my specific device, its a software issue that maybe they'll consider fixing some day.

Were the phones stock or rooted? Because I just tried my iPhone 4S, A coworkers BlackBerry Z10 and also a Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD and they all have a delay.
What kind of video were you playing on the phones? I was using youtube.

I'll have to do another test to make sure what I said earlier was true. I'll try when I get a quick break from work. Sorry in advance if I said the wrong thing earlier haha.

You are definitely right and I stand corrected. I just tried my phone and it was not sync'd.

Oh well. Hopefully they can figure this out in the future.

Thanks for your help and correction.

I wasn't trying to make any correction, I was just curious about how you got it to be in sync. I was doing some reading and there are the same complaints where people are using BT headphones or speaker systems also. So it seems to be a normal (though not liked) issue.

Ugh, that Bluetooth audio delay is the worst! It feels like you're watching a bad lip-sync battle with yourself.
A few things might be causing that lag. Sometimes interference from other devices can mess with the Bluetooth connection. Try moving away from other devices like microwaves or even other Bluetooth devices.
Also, make sure your headphones or speakers are updated with the latest firmware. Sometimes a software update can fix connectivity issues.
You could also try forgetting and re-pairing your device. Sometimes that can refresh the connection and get rid of the delay.
Try restarting both your phone and your Bluetooth device. It might sound simple, but it often solves those pesky connection problems.

If none of that works, you can follow for more better assistance below.
