Default back up camera?

I just picked up a back up camera from the junk yard off a 2008 Dodge minivan and was wondering how to hook it up to my gig radio. The minivan had my gig but i did not get the wiring for it. Any help would be nice. Thank you

I cannot help you too much, but from what I understand you'll need something called the lockpick to unlock the functionality in the neutered MyGig.

Since it's an OE camera, from an 08 minivan, I THINK they were high speed canbus.
I believe the OE camera's interface with the can bus, as well as run up to the back of the radio. (I could be wrong, but I can try and find out)
I'll also be able to get you the pins you'll need to connect the camera to on the back of the mygig. If you've looked at your radio, there are three "plugs" back there. One is primarily speaker/amp output. One is for the mic, and the third is VES and camera.
You'll have to do something creative to get the wire to those plugs, but that can be done from Radio Shack fairly easily.

OK, I was wrong. Camera does NOT plug into the canbus, just into the mygig.
Here is the pinout from that "other" plug on the back of the mygig. Pins 3, 4, and 5 are the important ones for you.

You'll have to make something with some creativity. And just attach them to the pins one at a time. (That will be easiest, or get that plug from the junkyard, and then splice into the wires.)

Good luck.

The connector is available from metraonline.com. I had the dealer add the backup camera option with the starscan tool, That was much less $$$ then a lockpick.

Renegade, do you have a part number or link for that connector? I was think about using the same one to hook up a screen for my 6 disc, since the connector is the same.

Also, to the OP, take not of renegade's comment...just plugging in the camera alone will not turn it on, you'll need to have it activated by StarScan

You are correct water “Proof” cameras are very hard to come by I am using a Crime Stopper Model number SV-6700 Waterproof I made a bracket That mounts between the top spokes on the spare wheel, The camera is color reverse view also has somewhat of a fish eye view. Works very well.
