Default Bazooka sub and unknown plug

I'm getting a deal on a Bazooka 10" sub that I'm hoping will fit in the trunk while the backseat is up. I'm planning on hooking it straight up to my factory non-infinity head unit. Anyone ever seen a bazooka in a jk? Hows it sound? I was going to go with a typical aftermarket head unit, truck-box sub and amp but this sounds so much easier; I was told I could tap right into a speaker output wire for both signal output and remote function...then only have to run ground and battery wire which won't be a problem for me. Sound right?

I have another question...I found this plug under the steering wheel near the pedals and it runs from the same wires as the speakers it seems like. I don't have the factory amp under the steering column and my head unit is the non-infinity one. It looks like a 16 pin plug for a head unit or something but I dont know... What is it? (sorry the pictures suck...its my phone)

complete shot in the dark, but maybe that is where you plug a programmer into... I have no idea though, not sure how those things work.

That is the ODB-II connector. Used for diagnostics and electronics programming. Everything made after 1996 has one there. Take a look at odbii.com for more info.

Make sure the Bazooka has auto turn on and speaker level inputs. If those two requirements are met, then you are entirely correct...You can just connect it to a speaker output and run power and ground. If it does not have auto turn on, the Bazooka will always be on when power is connected. Your aftermarket H/U will have a remote turn on. Run a small wire (22 AWG) from the H/U to the Bazooka to turn it on and off with the H/U.

I think the bazooka tube does have a auto turn on..but if it doesnt, I dont have an aftermarket h/u...would I run the remote wire straight to the fuse box or soemthing? I've heard of that being done..

Sorry. I read your original post again. Yes you can run a turn on from the fuse box. The most popular is the M8 Heated Seat fuse location. Get an Add-A-Fuse and use that as your turn on. The only problem is that the Bazooka will be on anytime the key is on even if the H/U is off. There is a light possibility that you might get some noise from the Bazooka. Just something to watch out for.
