Default Black Magic Hella 500 Help!

I am trying to install my new Hella lights on my JK, but have ran into problems.

I am mounting them on Quadratech's front bumper auxiliary lights and connected the blue wires (supposedly grounds) to the hardware on the steel mounting bar.

I attached the red wire to the positive terminal on the battery.

I attached the black wires to the black wires on the lights.

The green wire is attached to the switch, and the other end is attached to the green striped wire on my drivers side headlight

The yellow wire is attached to the switch, and the switch is grounded.

The wires are all connected to the wiring harness.

I don't know why it isn't working. I tried it with my hi beams on and off. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, I checked on line for the instructions for wiring these, I am not sure which ones you have but it looks like you should have one wire to ground on each headlite. Is that the blue one you mentioned? On my procomps it was the black wire. Here is a link http://www.myhellalights.com/index.php/default/auxiliary-lamps/halogen-lamps/500-series-black-magic/ But you should have the directions already. Now I may be completely off track about this, I just hooked some lites up and had a hard time with it. My problem was the fuse holder itself was faulty.. Good luck.

I just wired up my 500's today. I wired everything up and grounded the lights with no luck. So i grounded them directly to the battery and no luck. Checked all my connections and turns out the yellow wire tab popped off my switch. Just cause the switch lights up doesnt mean its working. Check that out.

Ok here is a couple things to check.

I am mounting them on Quadratech's front bumper auxiliary lights and connected the blue wires (supposedly grounds) to the hardware on the steel mounting bar
Is the ground for the relay?. Is the steal mounting bar bolted to the frame? Make totaly sure that your grounds have a clear path of metal to metal connection all the way back to the frame. Remove paint if needed.

The green wire is attached to the switch, and the other end is attached to the green striped wire on my drivers side headlight

Possible bad connection at the headlight. I would prefer to see this connection moved to the M8 / M9 pin inside the fuse box.

How do I do that? Is there a spot inside the box?

Im refering to the location in the fuse box that would normaly be occupied by a fuse that supplies power to the OEM heated seats. This pin is desirable because it is only hot when the key is on. The best way to get power from this pin is to use a fuse tap. You can find this part in most automotive stores. I personaly just used a female spade fitting. The fitting has to be on of the smaller sizes. Just crimp the fitting on to the end of the wire and just simply plug it into the blank fuse location.

OK, thanks for the info!

I did what you said, but it still didn't work. Turns out the switch was bad, and the fuse on the green wire was blown. I left the green wire attached to the fuse box, since it makes more sense for it there. After all that, my ground was wrong too, so I can't blame Hella for the bad switch or blown fuse, might have been my fault.

They sure give crappy directions though.

I bought a new switch, it's nicer than the one that came with the lights anyway. Everything is installed now and works great.

If I were to do it all over again I think I would just go with the Warn Wireless and save some of the hassle. Not to mention I spent the difference in price at the auto-parts store.

On to my next jeep project!

Hella's instructions were very confusing. I searched all over the internet before I was confident enough to tackle this job. But now I know how to wire up just about anything.
