Default Black magic install help!

Just got my new black magic lights and I opened it up and got really confused! I don't have a lot of time to monkey around with it so I was wondering if anyone had a write up (preferably with pictures) I tried searching but the search on my phone doesn't work to great. I'd like to wire it so I can turn them on without having my jeep turned on or without having my headlights or fog lights on. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I wish I had the pictures from my install. They do seem confusing at first, but really simple when you figure everything out. If you want to have them able to turn on all the time, I would tap into the acessory outlet on the passenger side of the jeep. The drivers side is a keyed power source. Use that power for your switch to trip the relay to turn your lights on and off. Wire the lights directly off your battery or use a fuse tap. The harness for the Hella lights is really helpful.

I hope this helps a little, but if you have any more questions I might be able to help. I can probably take some pictures of needed too.

That's great stuff, but the thing is.. I've done electrical on houses, boats, campers.. You name it. But never a vehicle! And frankly it confuses the hell out of me! How do you tap into the passenger side? And do I need to get anything that doesn't come with it?

I used one of the inline splice connectors that so many people use here and just spliced into the hot lead. I got mine at the autoparts store along with some extra wire. Search the forum and find out which is the hot lead into that outlet. Should be pretty easy.

As far as parts needed, I got some wire connectors, wire, splice connectors and terminal ends to hook to the battery. I also installed a Rugged Ridge A-Pillar switch pack at the same time, so I chewed up a lot of wire making hooking all 4 switches up and making a wire harness. I would also recomend beer. It got frustrationg at times routing the wires and taking crap off so I could get to where I needed. So the thinking beer really comes in handy.

Where are you mounting the lights?

I recommend wiring them so you have to have the key on in order to turn the Black Magics on. Reason is to keep assholes from turning on your lights in a parking and you coming out to a dead battery.

I got kc windshield brackets and for now I'm just gonna be running the one set so I don't need anything too intense. Just pointers on how to run the wires efficiently and where you guys grounded the wires.

When I ran my windshield lights I grounded them to the nearest body bolt in the engine compartment. There is a fair amount of dicking around to get the shroud off by the wipers. It works easiest to remove the wiper arms. All the wires from the lights are run into there.

There is a small hole that is filled with foam insulation on the drivers side that I ran my switch wire through. Just used a metal coat hanger with the wire taped to it. I put the solenoid near where I ran the wires into the cab. In the engine bay, there is a bunch of wires that you can piggy back from the solenoid to the battery or fuse box. I just hid mine in an existing wire cover.
