Default Black wire...no... the blue wire... wait??

sooooooo... i pulled some panels and found the accessory port wires on the driver's side cig lighter port.

Objective: hard wire my XM radio power cord into the back of the driver cig lighter port

Method: good question... that where you all come in!

My XM power cord is the standard dual wire in separate insulation as in, two wires run side by side inside the insulated cord.

The lighter port has a black wire and a blue wire with a redish stripe.

My questions:

1. do i need to cut the adapter off and splice one wire into the black and one into the blue or can they both be spliced into one wire?

2. which wire, black or blue?

3. Are there any other ways you all are accomplishing this??

Thanks in advance and please help, i would like to do this tonight and would prefer to keep the adapter intact in case i need it in another vehicle!

Respectfully,

07JKX

Default XM Install

Hey guys,
The black wire is ground and the Blue with Red stripe is 12 Volt with the ignition. I hard wired my GPS and checked the Service Manual and verified with a Volt Meter. Hope this helps. Chris
