Default Blank Slate Lighting Help

New to the forum.

I just got a 2012 Unlimited Rubicon, lifted, AEV front and rear bumpers, Wilderness rack. Looks and drives awesome. Want to upgrade my lighting. Mounts for lamps included with bumper, so thinking of putting driving lights there. Still have OEM fog and head lamps to be upgraded somehow. Also considering putting windshield lights, likely long range.

With this in mind what would you do where. Considering KC 130s on windshield with mopar brackets, KC 100s on the bumper, and possibly just going with replacing the factory bulbs with Sylvania Silverstar versus completely upgrading factory headlamps and fogs.

Can't wait to hear the suggestions and see the final product you decide to go with. I'm going to be in the same boat as you soon I hope.

Lighting's addictive, I'm experiencing it right now. A basic upgrade to your factory beams, in my opinion, are the Hella 500's. I've had them on several Jeep's and they're durable and good quality for the price. Only about $75 at local auto parts stores. Got mine at Pepboys. So for a basic supplement that won't break the bank, I'd go for those. Of course you're going to want more power depending on the conditions you'll be driving in. I'm currently adding some PIAA's to the windshield, and am going to spend a few more $$$ on them because I want to get more "serious" with the lighting setup.

Hope this helps

okay how about replacing the OEM lights. Just upgrade the bulbs or go through the trouble of swapping out the headlights with IPF H4 conversion kit. IF I go with IPF kit, what do you do to the factory fog lights?

Fogs are the hard part when i tried to upgrade bulbs the fogs kept bringing up codes for diferent things. so I left my fogs and upgraded everything else. Also PIAAs are great to thats what I used and they are also bright and great on long ranges.

For the headlights, I would recommend running a Philips Xtreme power +80%. Those are the brightest drop in bulbs I have ever used on the JK. I went through 4 or 5 other bulbs and did not like any of them.

From what I understand about the OEM lights, its the lenses, not the bulbs that are the issue. IF I am putting on Long range and driving lights, is just upgrading the bulbs (to H13 Sylvania or phillips Xtreme) sufficeint or should I invest in H4 conversion. Anyone know if you can swap out the factory fog lamps for an upgraded lens or can you just swap out the bulbs. Dont see a fog kit similiar to the IPF H4 for the headlamps.
