Default Bluetooth Adapter

I've been searching the net for a specific product, and thought maybe someone here already has it figured out - cuz i haven't

I'd like hands-free calling in the jeep, and also a way to play music from my phone.

Right now, my option for that is just a simple 3.5mm RCA jack from my phone to the Jeep stereo. The only problem is, the Palm Pre (my phone) has a glitch where when you have it set up this way, people can't hear me talking (it shuts off the phone's mic). If I plug it in, and then reboot my phone, then it works... only problem is, a reboot on the Pre takes about 3 minutes. Which is a long time to wait after you get in the car to start listening to music and making calls.

What I'd REALLY like to do is get something small that's a bluetooth adapter that i can plug into the jeep AUX input to essentially add Bluetooth to the jeep stereo as compact as possible. It would need to have a mic built in. Then I could just pair my phone to it and listen to music over BT and also make and receive calls over the stereo.

I know there's LOTS of different ways to get this accomplished, but they all tend to end up with lots of wires everywhere, and it would be great if someone here has found a clean and straight forward solution - especially since I was ablw to install a Palm touchstone for wirelessly charging my phone in the jeep! If I can get this Bluetooth thing worked out, my jeep will never need another wire again!

Thanks!

I don't think anythings super useful in a jeep for hands free. At least not for me jeeps to loud. I do travel a lot though and wanted something similar. Jabra Sp700 it's compact handsfree and Bluetooth audio all thru fm no cords at all. I use it in my rentals all the time streaming music from my iPad. I have an extra one if you want it I'll let it go $35 brand new.

Thanks but I was actually trying to avoid an FM transmitter. I just found this and I think it may be the perfect solution - albeit not the best looking (I was hoping for something a little sleeker) - http://www.cellularaccessory.com/btaxs.html

Basically all it is, is a mic that plugs into your AUX IN and connects to your Bluetooth phone for music and phone calls.

I don't have a solution, but I'm able to do exactly what you're trying to do with my iPhone 3GS without the glitch. Maybe your best solution might be to get a different phone if you can't find what you're looking for.

http://www.amazon.com/BlackBerry-Rem...2&sr=8-1-spell

by the way. I also have the pre and had a touchstone in my jeep. my issue is that it got pretty hot and didn't want to burn the touchstone and back on my phone.

Thanks for the link. I've found that one too and it looked promising except i think it's just for music - doesnt have a mic for bluetooth phone calls.

Yeah it gets a bit warm too. Where did you have your touchstone mounted?

Right. I'm hoping they get the issue fixed in a new update to the phone - the Pre gets an update about every 2 months so hopefully one of the next few will fix it. Until then, I can always buy an inline mic adapter for a few bucks on amazon that just a mic built into a RCA audio cable. That would work.

The bluetooth thing I mentioned above would be the best solution, but it appears it's out of stock EVERYWHERE so...

I'm sorry. I didn't get to read the whole post. I guess I got too excited that there's a fellow jeeper with a pre.

I made a small mount to raise the little section in front of the automatic shift lever. Ran the usb wire under the mount and through the back center console where the cigarette lighter is at. The adapter sat behind the console with power tapped into the cigarette lighter so it's out of sight. With my phone overclocked to 800mhz the phone is almost too hot to the touch.

Nice. I've been too scared to overclock mine.

Right now my touchstone is up on the dash to the right of the steering wheel. Works good for using GPS since the screen is right there. When I get a free Saturday I'm gonna run the power for it behind the console up through the top plate above the radio so its nice an hidden too. Thats why I want to get this whole Bluetooth thing figured out. I hate having wires running all over the place and this will take care of that problem.

now i've done it. Taken this topic in whole different direction. You HAVE to at least try to OC, even for just one day. The difference is night and day. The battery drain is pretty minute but I got a 1400 mugen battery just for the extra range. I must warn you, once you overclock you never go back
