Camera on bumper to see over the edge of the hood any ideas?
Has anyone mounted the equivalent of a backup camera on the hood or front bumper to see what is in front of you. I hate going over ledges with no view of whats in front of me except for hanging my head out the window.
All the backup cameras I am finding are not for continuous duty operation.
Any ideas on a setup?
Thanks
Don

Of course, a spotter is what most people will say, but I also see the utility of such a camera.
Search this on amazon: Swift Hitch SH01 Portable Wireless Camera System. It's meant for looking at your hitch to line things up, it's wireless so there should be no reason why you can't put it in the front, along the wheels, whatever. Also, check out GoPro cameras. They appear to be pretty affordable, and they are currently working on wireless streaming (not sure if there is a delay or not), which may be a good option too. From their web page it looks like it maybe in the works, but there maybe options already for wired streaming. Hopefully this is a start to what you are looking for.

i have a pioneer video head unit with a backup cam option, i bypassed the reverse and neutral safety switches si in the future i can put a camera anywhere and just select camera on the radio input, this should work if you have or were planning on putting aftermarket sound in
I've got a Kenwood head unit with front and rear camera inputs. I'm running a cheap $18 IR camera up front cause I don't want to be out a lot of money if I smash it. It's been through 5 or 6 hardcore wheeling trips without a problem. It does come in handy for seeing where the front tires are and what's coming up.

I also need a view head of some sort. I have a mygig but that would not be constantly on but only work in reverse as I understand it.
So it looks like the camera's can be had for cheap, I now need to get the right viewer head.
Thanks
Don
