Default Camera Mounts

I've seen several videos shot from the perspective of the Jeep's cab. Judging from how stable the camera is, I can only assume it's mounted inside and to the Jeep somehow.

I've racked my brain, and I haven't come up with anything I like yet.

I'd love to hear from anybody who's mounted a video camera inside their Jeep. Pictures would be even better

in the past I have just taken a quickcam pro 4000 webcam that has a stand.. and bungie corded the base upside down to the sound bar.. then flipped the image in the software.. it was really stable and worked well for what I was doing...

Those are some sweet cameras, but my budget is closer in line with JeepaRoo's suggestion of a bungie strap

I already have a video camera, I was just looking for cheap DIY was of mounting it in the cab of the Jeep.

get one of those BIG universal suction cups I did see one that was mounted behind the passenger grab handle above the glove box somehow. Last time I saw universal mounts was at SAMS club so I bet Wal-Mart has one.

Additionally, no matter how you shoot it, if you have a buddy with After Effects, he can easily grab a point of reference, crop in 10% and stabilize the whole shot. Works extremely well and it's very easy. (I salvaged some helicopter footage with it today.)

Good suggestions so far. I am thinking that post processing (of some type) will probably be required. Either to stabilize it (as DJV suggested) or to flip it (as JeepaRoo suggested).

I am starting to form some ideas in my idea, and will probably have something to play around with in the next few days, but I'd love to keep hearing the suggestions

My upper dash panel is modified and not fully attached in the photo, but I put a bar across the top of the dash/radio area where the compass, etc is located. The bar sticks out the drivers side. I bolted the pan/tilt mechanism from the top of a small tripod to this bar. There is a little handle to move the camera and to lock it in place.

This is the only photo that I know of... you can see the handle has been rotated to point down. It faces towards the steering wheel when the camera is mounted and facing forward. It is short enough that it does not interfere with my hands when steering.

Here is a link to a video shot from the mount. Weak terrain and footage, I know, but we're here to evaluate the mount, right?
