OK. I'm not one who likes to show his ignorance, but here goes.

I am planning to upgrade the RES HU that came with my 2009 Wrangler Unlimited with an aftermarket HU. Will the SAT antenna that came with my RES to support Sirius also support XM or will I have to change out the antenna? I prefer XM to Sirius.

I don't really see the difference between XM or Sirius. They are the same company now and a few month ago did a new channel line up so that XM matches Sirius. The only current difference in them right now is a few extra channels that one gets over the other but you can buy those for cheap.

Can you explain why you think XM is better if they are the same?

One of my favorite stations, I think it is called Extreme Talk or something like that, has a show in the early morning from Orlando called "Monsters in the Morning". You don't get this channel with the basic Sirius channel lineup but you do with the XM basic lineup. The rest of the basic lineup for both are about the same.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the end that connects to radio might be a diff style...

XM/Sirius radios have used the same antenna since they both started, the satellites use the same frequency range, and they've used the same connector for the past 5-6 years.

But that's for "normal" stick to the windshield type receivers, OEM radio might not use the same connector.

If it looks like the one on the right (the center part, this pic isn't from a chrysler product) then it should work, you could just trim the plastic off. Unless your aftermarket deck has it's own connector to force you to buy their antenna. But someone probably makes an adapter from chrysler->pioneer/kenwood/jvc/sony etc

Thanks for the input gang. I'll see if I can't make the existing sat antenna work.
