Default cb interfering with electronics

i posted this issue in the CB thread but it might be a general electrical problem that may be solved in this thread. I've had my cobra 75 in my Jeep for over 6 months and its been fine up until today. i was in traffic and wanted to see what the issue was so i turned on my cb and went to ask the truckers whats up when all of a sudden my wipers turned on, my radio turned off, my dash lights went off then on, and i heard a chime. wtf?? then i did it again and same thing.. my voice still transmitted and i could hear them but every time i tried it, i felt like i was going to kill my Jeep. i looked at my power wire and its not frayed or hitting metal. only difference between last time i used it and now is my new diehard platinum.. what did i do?!

I had the same thing happen when i installed my 75 plus I could hear my voice over all the speakers in the jeep... I had my subwoofer amp out for a repair and for the time my amp was out of the jeep (about 3 weeks) the cb worked fine..
Now that I put it back I don't get the lights and wipers, I only get my voice over the speakers.. In my case I think it's the amp causing all of this, so I'm going to rewire the cb a different way, because the power wire of the amp and cb are coming in side by side into the jeep from the battery.. Hopefully that helps..
Do you have any other accessory connected to your battery? Is your cb connected straight to your batt??

interesting.. yes my amps and cb are on the same battery post and run parallel into the Jeep. this literally just started happening though and nothing has changed with my setup.

Yeah that's weird.. A buddy of mine told me to try connecting the cb at the cigaret lighter.. But it's weird that u didn't have that problem before.. Try it with the SQL low then high..
Did u ever hear your voice on the speakers while transmitting??

i had my radio low when i was transmitting so i didn't notice at the time.. ill check tomorrow and see if that happens. I'm just scared to use my cb while cruising at highway speeds. I'm afraid it will do something sketchy...

I don't think it will.. I was coming down a winding road when it happened twice, but I did pull over after the second time just to be safe.. I would stay off of it.

Check all your grounds, you're getting stray RF in the Jeep.

Also checking your coax for a short wouldn't hurt.

Default Update

update: so after rerouting the coax away from all other wiring and cleaning up all connections with no luck, I finally figured it out tonight. the trick is that I need to run my rear defroster in order for the cb to transmit without any ill affects. go figure.. so the defroster has been interfering with the transmissions when it was off, but when on its fine. i don't get it but at this point, i don't care.. I'm just happy i can use my cb again. oh and it also works when i disconnect the defroster completely but its winter and i use it daily so that isn't an option right now.
