Default want to install amp & sub / still need help

FYI...I currently have the mygig with factory sub. Sorry if this has been discussed before, I ran several different searches but had no luck. What is the best way to install a new aftermarket amp and sub? At first was just going to take the stock infinity sub out and use that wiring for the new sub but now I'm thinking about keeping it there for additional sound? Can anyone tell me what the best way to run the new amp and sub is? Please also let me know if I install the new sub sould I keep the estisting sub or remove it. Thank you!!!!

Try this. It uses the factory wiring from the factory sub and goes inline with the factory amp. We have had very good success with it.

What worked for me to add good punch to the sub with the factory Infinity system is as follows:

Replaced factory Infinity sub with JL Audio 2 ohm dual voice coil sub using same enclosure stuffed with polyester stuffing used for pillows. I also purchsed a matching cover for the speaker to protect it from damage as the factory cover won't fit.

Insulated the 3 exlosure mounts with rubber washers between the mount and body.

Wired sub for 4 ohms. Retained original sub wiring but only one set is needed.

Purchased Infinity Amp ~200+ watts into 4 ohms (400+ into 2 ohms) and placed under passenger side back seat.

Tapped into sub wires located at the rear door sill: 4 sub inputs from there to the amp.

From the amp I used one set of factory wires to the sub.

Cost of sub ~$125, amp ~$150. Sounds very nice and even more punch than I need all from stock enclosure.

Future replacement of improved sound bar speakers, tweeters, and lower fronts on the horizon but I intend to retain the factory amp to drive these.

The bass is "very" satisfying from this setup.

Hope this helps.

I guess I should have mentioned that I have the new system already. It's a 12" Alpine sub in a enclosed box and 2 amps. One is a 4 channel Alpine amp and the other is a 2 channel Alpine amp. I'm not the best with sterio equipment so I might have a friend install it all. I was wanting to know whats the best way to install it. Should I run it to the factory mygig head unit or just tap into one the rear sound bar speakers?? (please let me know what all I will need to purchase to install it all) Which way will sound the best? Also, should I power the other stock speakers with the 4 channel amp and use the other amp for the sub?? Thanks again for everyones help!!

Please see my last post. Also, will this work with a unlimmited as well or just a 2door?

No problem. The speaker is a JL Audio 8W3v2-D2 (from a google search Woofer* site) which I wired for 4 Ohms (in series) that the amp likes. The wire mesh cover I purchased separately directly from JL for a few bucks. The amp is Alpine MRP-M450 from that famous Crutch* site (great service). Buy some good foam insulation to put between the speaker and box and some filling material or insulation for the box. Insulate the box mount bolts from the chassis with rubber washers. You will have very pleasing base with the Infinity system. Good luck.
