These Clarion are a direct fit to the stock locations. No brackets needed, they snug nice and easy with the flush mounts they come with. You cannot tell they are not stock if you did not know what the JK came with. Though no audiofile grade and no aftermarket amp, they are a Vast improvement over the stock. In line capacitor with a cutoff at 2500 Hz. Giving the heads up for someone who does not want to mess the stock appereance but wants some improvement on the cheap. My car audio days are over I have spent enough $$$$ in the past.

I did the mod on mine changing the capacitor. Just wondering if you feel you would get a better response from these clarion speakers than the mod.

 

Never did the mod, so no direct comparison experience. I would say yes, based on the quality of the stock tweeters and the Clarions.
They are bright, but nothing that can't be fixed with a little attenuation. The sound opened SO MUCH more, and the mudinedss is gone.
