Default Do You Really Need a PAC Unit for the Stereo Changeout with Non Infinity System?

I will be putting a complete new stereo system in a 2 door JK and I'm just curious as to whether or not an interface module such as the PAC RP4 CH11 are really necessary? I know you need a module in order to maintain your steering wheel controls, but is it required for anything other then that when you only have the base radio system? Thanks in advance for your input.

Not sure if it is true but what I heard was the EVIC runs through the radio. I put one in mine just in case.

I'm talking about a complete new system, head unit, front component speakers, coaxial sound bar speakers, 5 channel amp and a sub in a custom enclosure. Basically you could content this system to a battery and be good to go kind of thing.

Unless you have steering wheel controls then no you don't need a pac unit

I had to use two modules. One for steering wheel controls and another for canbus to trigger the delayed accessory feature, reverse trigger for backup camera, etc...

You could just wire it directly to a constant power and an accessory power source if u don't need all that. It was more of a convenience for me to use the modules. Made the job go a lot quicker and easier.

Metra 70-6522 is the harness you need. Your head unit will take care of the rest depending on the unit your going with. What exact equipment are you planning on getting?

Yeah my HU dims when I turn on my lights and keeps running when I turn the key off until I open my door etc.. Normal factory functions still work.

Mine did to with the regular harness I listed above for about $10. The expensive pac units are really only helpful for steering controls and infinity systems and things like that.

Well that's good to know. Everything I've read previously on this forum said you need one. I have steering wheel controls so I didn't waste my money but wouldn't be surprised if some did. Thanks for the info.
