Default Don't leave it out in the rain! ????

So I left my Jeep out in the rain with the front two freedom panels off last night and suffice to say it got rained in (again). I know what you're thinking...it's a jeep thing...cause that's what I was thinking. I get in this afternoon and suffer through the wet-ass (no biggie) and notice on my way to the gas station that the airbag light is on and the horn wasn't working. Then I thought back to when I got in to drive and all the H20 that poured outta' the steering wheel and thought that it must have a short or something. I go home and park. Several hours later the horn starts going off intermittently for anywhere between 5 seconds to a full 40 seconds or so...my neighbors must be pissed and rightfully so. Finally I get fed up and disconnect the battery. The irony of all this is that I just got her back from the dealership yesterday for an oil change, rotation, and seat adjustment lever fix after driving around a baby-sky-blue caliber for a day and a half . Anyone had this issue and does anyone think it'll dry out and solve itself? The airbag light has gone off so far but I'm not hooking up the battery until the sun comes out.

If you leave it out in the sun for awhile it should be fine. I had the same thing happen to my TJ many times. Water gets into the pressure switch under the wheel and makes your horn go haywire. I would also check for blown fuses.

Yep, sounds like the clockspring which feeds the horn, cruise, and airbag got wet. Usually when they dry out they're fine. Happens to TJ's a lot too.

Yep, blew the horn out the first time it happened. took a little to long to find the key to my hood lock. Apparently TJ horns are only rated for 3 minutes. Who knew

I'll try it again today but it's so dank and hurricane-ish outside. thanks for the replies...you'd think they would make a more waterproof housing.

Since they haven't, I think that it's cheap insurance to pick up one of the trail covers and throw it on. Or, if you're going to be driving in rain, to have a bikini/safari top to keep most of the water away from the dash area.
