DOT headlamp upgrade
I have read Daniel Stern's Write Up https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/arch...hp/t-1580.html and have a few questions. Currently I am running stock headlamps with stock H13 bulbs and am appalled by their performance. Both my 2001 Volkswagen Passat and, surprisingly, 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe blow the jeep away. I feel like I am driving blind, especially when I have to use my high beams.
Due to North Carolina's heavy handed law enforcement, I will not be running anything higher than 60/55 watt bulbs. In addition, if I replaced the stock headlamp assemblies, I am unable to use ECE (e-code) headlamps. I know several local police officers whom still write citations for any lighting that is out of the ordinary, i.e. not DOT. Susquehanna Motor Sports sells Hella "Vision Plus" replacement, 7", HB2/H4 lamps that meet the DOT requirements, but by their own admission are no where near the performance of true ECE lamps. Are there any other alternatives?
Also I have found H13 to H4 adapters so I won't have to create my own harness. Delta sells them individually for $13.25. They usually come with their e-code upgrade for the Jeep JK.
Thanks for any suggestions you may have!
