I have the same problem. So many styles, mounts, brightness and not sure what to buy. I was looking at the KC HiLites hood mount light bar but not sure what lights to use. If I went with something like that would this application only be able to be used on the trail? Street use would be illegal?

here is a guide from kc hilites website. i think in general fogs should be mounted as low(close to the road) as possible. on a regular street car you would mount them hanging under the bumper. obviously, that wouldn't work very well on our jeeps, so inside a bumper cutout, or directly on top would be the best place. long range lights can be mounted as high as you want, like on top of the windshied, the pillars, or the hood. i have mine mounted on a light bar on the bumper, and they work great. regular driving lights need to be mounted somewhere below the hood line to be really effective. they are meant to light the road directly in front of you and out past the range of the oem high beams. if you mount them on the hood or pillars, you will have a dead spot directly in front of the jeep, not to mention a horrible glare off the the hood. they are meant to only be used in conjunction with your factory high beams.

Dave at Northridge has them on stock and from what i hear its the best upgrade out there, its next on my to do list. I attached a link to his web site.....

+1 for the IPF conversion. It's like night and day compared to the stock headlights.

Thanks for posting that light picture from KC
A picture is worth a 1000 words.

The 130 watt KC long range driving lights can be found on Amazon.com, along with the brackets. The direct install to the battery is simplistic. I have been very pleased with them and do get many compliments. Good Luck!

Default Happy with mine!

I just wanted a boost for rural roads in inclement weather, and for surf fishing.

Hella Black Magic 500, 100 bucks on amazon.
