Default Electrical blackout at 70mph...

My Jeep is an 07 Rubicon unlimited mfg. 03/2007. I have experienced a total electrical blackout twice now that lasts about a second. Once around 12-13000 miles @ 30 mph, and now at 20100miles @ 70 mph. The engine does not die and luckily I've been going straight both times, but I don't think I lost power steering and brakes, not sure. Radio and all lights cut out, then all warning lights and everything comes back on.

I have read the info on TSB 18-036-06. Sounds like a similiar problem, but states only applicable to mfg dates of 11/2006 and earlier. Anyone have any other ideas on how to fix this or what it could be? Thanks for the help

I'm mechanically retarted, so I'm not sure how to get the error code. It is at the Dodge (now Jeep) dealership and they just called saying they can't duplicate it and there are no service bulletins relating to it, so in short, I'm screwed! Going to pick it up backup today. I will ask about the error code.

Just got off the phone again with dealership and they said there were no error codes posted. He said they posted the issue to the online "star" system, but no one else seemed to have the problem, so they have nothing to go on for now, but will keep me updated.

Default sounds like...

the stall that many people experienced. You may want to try search on that and may be able to find more information on this forum..

Good luck!

I was talking to my dealership today, He told me that the computer has a "limp"mode, i ask him what that was and i was told that the computer will turn every thing off but the vary minimal for safe operation, ie: just head lights and wipers till the power drops, then the computer will turn off the headlights and leave the wipers on, the computer will will turn every last thing off but the power to the engine and the computer off. I dont think that this will help you but....hell who the hell knows any ways.

I know my previous JK X 2doors 2007 had the auto transmission go to neutral and lights flashed on the dash, that was corrected by a reprogramming by the dealer, it was a recall issue on the early 2007...

This link will tell you how to get error codes by turning on and off the ignition in sequence
