2012 Sahara standard transmission

Had issue last year where engine wouldn’t turnover. Panel would light up, but no crank. I disconnected battery, pulled fuse…no luck. Finally found a post after 4 days with workaround solution.

Put it in 4 low, and it fired right up. Seemed to be a security system lock down.

Didn’t happen again for 6 months. Now it happens every other day. Changed battery in my key…didn’t help. Been starting in neutral, as many posts have suggested, but I have the same problem with sporadic no starts.

Could it be the TIPM going bad?

 

Sounds like the interlock for starting which is either the P/N gear lever position detection or the clutch interlock if you are manual.

 

My guess would be the clutch switch.....that is bypassed when starting in 4L since you can start it without depressing the clutch pedal.
