Default extra back up lights

I want to use my back up lights when I turn on the running lights. I confirmed that a relay is switching the ground over to the hitch receiver when the running lights are on with my meter. If I run another ground lead out of the 7 pin plug to the hitch receiver will I burn anything out?

Never mind. I decided to try it and see what happens. Tests went fine just need to clean up the wiring.

Do you intend to have the backup lights on all the time when your headlights are on or are you installing a switch to allow you to turn them on when not in reverse?

especially considering when anyone on here asks how much something should cost or something everyone's like 'do it yourself'

I used a 7pin plug and wired them to the reverse pin and the ground pin. Initially they would only work with the running/head lights off. When I grounded them to the hitch they work with the lights on and off (never towed much or I would have known to ground them to the hitch by default). Further more why is a ground even in the plug if its not sufficient to run the lights or anything else.

Getting ready to relocate my license plate and add a rear LED light bar for a back up light. I'm making a custom bracket for it. I'll try to remember to post when I'm done.
