If it's only the radio reception that cuts out (no problems playing a CD), it sounds like it could be an antenna coax problem.

A few questions.. Does the radio lose electrical power when it cuts out? AM/FM lost 2 yrs ago is it still not working? If loses electrical then determine the cause of this interruption. AM FM not working -- was the radio removed and the antenna coax unplugged? As Mr.T suggested should it play CDs 100% then you have power at head unit.& AMP is ok. therefore 1 of 2 causes on radio would be antenna or the radio itself has an internal issue ( if internal suggest check some salvage yards for another head unit).

Since the amp was already replaced, it cuts sound from every source, and it doesn't appear to loose power -- I'm concluding it's either the receiver/head unit or the wiring/connectors between it and the amp. Suggest removing and re-seating all the connectors first. Stay in touch, curious how it turns out.
