Matt, I wish you lived locally so you can listen to my system. I am have more frequency problems than just the 100 range. It feels like I am not getting a third of the piano range to sound like it is supposed to . My highs are good, my low range are absolutely fantastic(dual 8" JLs btw) its just midrange tweaking that I need to fine tune.
I wonder if that makes any sense.

Anyway, I am going back to that shop so he can tweak some things installation wise so I'll go from there..

I am noting all the advice you've previously given for tuning on the input voltage to the use of the HU's xover, trust me. I am not relying on the shop for that as I am not too confident he'll even know what I'm taking about

After a lot of tweaking , these are the equalizer settings that are sounding good right now. I lowered instead of raised until this morning, I raised the 200hz one notch and it made a good difference. I'm pretty happy at the moment, still going to keep obsessing until I get it right

Did you ever run the auto EQ set up? It is a great tool for someone that has never set up a car stereo before and the microphone is only about $20...well worth the money. If you still haven't, or are not using and RTA you are just guessing. All that boost puts you in danger of over driving the amps and adding a ton of distortion, especially if your gains are not set properly to begin with (you have never confirmed).

Anyway I post the same basic response in this thread every time so I'll let someone else give it a try. Good luck to you.

Sorry I was not clear before. The two things I have to do is set the gain and the auto eq. I'll buy the Mic now that I know which one to get and get a multi meter also. I'll update you after the weekend

I can almost bet your eq is wayyy off. Nothing on my eq is above the 0 line. A few are at 0 but most are below it. If I go to high I get distortion. Try everything at its lowest point on the eq. And slowly add your lower freq at full volume. Then move to your mid and upper. I swear I drove around for two or three days tweaking it. My hpf is set around 80 and my lpf is set around 100.

Btw, what headunit is that. That's a lot more eq than my avhx4600.

You give a MLB player a wiffle ball bat don't expect a MLB performance.......Our JKs have shit box enclosures, with no Polly fill or any kind of sound deadening.

::mind****ed:: Thanks..Now I have to start all over..

This is the NEX 4100.

I called up crutch field to order the Auto EQ Mic and they said mine doesn't have that option but I checked and they're wrong. I went to go look for it locally but no luck. I'll have to get it on Amazon.
