Default Fog lights

Not sure if this has been discussed, if so sorry. Ordered new stinger bumper without fog light cut outs. Looking to add after market lights and use same wires so they are already switched. Can thus be done? If so what do I need? Ty!!

Try using the OE Fog Light circuit to trigger a relay on the new lighting system.

depends on the lights you want to wire to the OE fog wires. I believe they would have to be the same amp draw. I know of a couple guys that bought some off road driving lights and hooked them to the fog switch, so it can be done, but not necessarily recommended. Just mount and wire them to the original harness and you should be good to go...However, someone with more experience may chime in to say that the OE set up can't handle certain lights and can handle others. There are a few threads on this and other forums about aftermarket fogs using the OE wiring.

Some people have had success with lights up to 55w on older JK's. Others haven't. The newer JK's need alot less. I wouldn't recommend anything less tha 55W for any type of incandescent light.

Why not just run some desperate wires and do this?

You can use the 'posi-lock' brand splicers to tap into the factory wires, run it into a relay that is wired to the lights via a power source that comes directly from the battery.

The factory switch only then triggers the relay and your lights amperage doesn't effect the factory harness.
