Fog lights with brights??
On the TJ I just got rid of I had found and done a mod on a site similar to this one were I bent one of the prongs on the stock relay that allowed the fog lights to remain on while the bright lights were on. Does anyone know if it is possible to do this with my new JK. It was really nice having the fogs lighting directly in front of the jeep while the brights were lighting up the distance. I really don't understand why they don't come stock this way I mean when you meet another vehicle with the brights you are supposed to dim them anyways, and I know that you are not supposed to use brights in the actual fog but offroad going to a hunting site it would be awful nice.
Once again this is controlled via the BCM
best way around is to wire in a switch to provide power to the lamp it can be one with in the under dash area of the jeep power from keyed 12 volt source to the wire under dash for the lamps not sure what colour.

There is a detailed set of instructions that someone supplied to me on how to use the Starscan to set the JK to export mode which will allow the fogs to stay on with the brights.
I initially had a problem because I have a CDN JK and the garage stated that setting it to export would prevent the daytime running lights (DRL) from working. The instructions include details on setting it to export and then re-enabling the DRL.

liability fear in the US is like a permanent pot paranoia
i've been posting and searching and searching and posting and so on for a while now. i loved that feature on my TJ too. i guess my question is after reading more posts on the matter is (please don't laugh, i'm serious). is there not anymore relays on this JK? every response that i get/read, someone says "they are controlled/connected to the computer". i'm guessing there's still a relay too, yes? what would happen if we did the relay mod? i should have gotten an education, me feel dum sometimes.
Well my dealership won't even talk to me about any mods they say there owner won't allow them to do anything that might possibly come back to them especially on the new wranglers. Go figure

What I've seen on other forums is that its connected to the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) which is the big box right in front of the battery..........
As reading elsewhere: short of just completely bypassing the TIPM and re-running wires/power/relay/switch--- no ones figured a way short of the half-n-half method: basically holding the hi-beam lever about half back will *sometimes* allow you to run both.
Hmmmmmm, Now THERE"S an idea....maybe a simple removal of a prong up in/near the selector switch --- no contact- no messege to the TIPM. Somebody feeling like monkeyin' up thier steering colum for this??????????
oh no doubt-- but that extra light IS nice either with the low beams or the hi-beams (if you can hold that selector just right-- you'll soon know how good it COULD be).
A cheap easy bypass is A+++++++++++++ in my book in comparison to either driving with crap lights or having to flip the bill on a real decent set of driving lights....
